How to Put/Get Blu ray movies into Motorola xoom for watching

The Motorola Xoom features a 10.1-inch display with 1280x800 resolution, and supports HD video playback at 1080p up to 10 hours, so it will be a gorgeous media player for HD videos or Blu ray movies. Unfortunately, considering for their interest, Motorola doesn't allow the manufacturer equip any DVD or BD driver for the Xoom, this means you have to rip Blu ray discs if you want to watch Blu ray movies on Motorola Xoom. This post will walk you through ripping your 1080p Blu-ray discs (the ones you own, of course) and then convert the video into a more manageable file size for watching on your Motorola Xoom.

What is you'll need?

- Pavtube Blu ray ripper(free trial, $49 to keep)

- A Windows PC (the Blu-ray ripping process is, at the moment, Mac-unfriendly. I used Windows 7 Beta 64-bit and all the following software is Windows-only)

- A Blu-ray drive (I used OWC's new Mercury Pro multi-interface external)

- A decent understanding of how video codecs and containers work

Instruction to rip/convert Blu ray to Motorola Xoom with Pavtube Blu ray ripper

Step 1. Free Download Pavtube Blu ray ripper, install and run it.

Once run the program, click the blu-ray disc icon or blu-ray folder icon at the top-left corner of the main interface to import your bluray movie files.

Step 2. Select subtitle and audio track .

Click on the dropdown list of “Subtitle” and “Audio” respectively to select your needed subtitle and audio track.

Step 3. Select the proper output format for Motorola Xoom.

The Motorola Xoom are compatible with MPEG4, H.263, H.264 Resolution: 1280 x 800 pixels video files, so just click the pull down menu at the end of “Format” to select an output format for the Xoom. Here I choose “Motorola Droid X MPEG-4 (*.mp4)” for instance.

Step 4. Click “Settings” button to adjust audio and video parameters

You are allowed to adjust codec, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate and audio channel in the popup window to optimize the output file quality. We recommend you to set output size at “1280*800” (you need type “1280*800” by yourselves manually).

Step 5. Start ripping and converting Blu ray to Motorola Xoom MPEG4.

Click “Convert” button to start converting bluray to Motorola Xoom playable file type. Once the BD ripping task is finished, you can click “Open” button to get the converted MPEG4(1280x800) files. By then you are ready to watch Blu-ray movies on Motorola Xoom. Have fun.
